A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz

Follows Hansel and Gretel as they walk out of their own story and into eight more tales, encountering such wicked creatures as witches, along with kindly strangers and other helpful folk. Based in part on the Grimms' fairy tales Faithful Johannes, Hansel and Gretel, The Seven Ravens, Brother and Sister, The Robber Bridegroom, and The Devil and His Three Golden Hairs.  Beware!  Not for small children!

  4. If you are looking at these comments before you read the book, or even while you are reading it, I warn you, that there is a part in the book where you really, REALLY, want to look at the last page to find out the ending (like page 80). I really wanted to too. But I promise you, that if you read just the last 3 sentences it WILL spoil the book, especially near page 80.
It was also a very great book. The end was surprising but still good.

  13. this book was the total opposite of what hansel and gretel really is. It is really awesome, and gruesome. The book is a total twist and mystery on what the actual story is.

  14. This book was probably the most backwards book I have ever read that does not mean it was bad it just means that it went against every thing I had ever read. this book was the best version of hansel and grettel I have ever seen.
